This weekend was not only the ‘summer’ solstice, but also the date for this year’s Rainforest World Music Festival.
Hosted at the impressively featured Kampung Budaya Sarawak (Sarawak Cultural Village) on the Santubong Peninsula near Kuching, this annual music and arts festival provides a unique experience to appreciate a blend of culture, arts, cuisine, and performances in the context of a relatively chill and very well organized event, sponsored by some big players in local and regional tourism.

Performances
Among dozens of outstanding and deeply felt performances were several of Sarawak origin:
Kampung Budaya Sarawak
In addition to dual mainstage performances in the evening, musical activities and sessions continued throughout the day in several other spaces at the venue, as well as craft markets, dozens of food and drink providers, tattoo and henna spaces, and regionally representative traditional architecture.

While rainfall is common in a rainforest, and we did see rainbows during this year’s festival, the conditions were remarkably fair and dry for the [short] duration of our visit (the ponchos remained packed.)
